One of Canada's most recognized icons, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride, performed at Bélanger Field in Azilda on June 19th, 2009.
The RCMP Musical Ride represents a colorful Canadian tradition. The troop of 32 horses and riders performed a variety of cavalry drills choreographed to music. Working through a unique medium, they support the RCMP community policing efforts throughout Canada.
The Musical Ride was developed in 1876 by early members of the North-West Mounted Police to display their riding ability and entertain the local community. It has evolved over the decades into a uniquely Canadian performance enjoyed by tens of thousands of spectators every year.

Proceeds from ticket sales were donated to “Camp Quality”, Lion’s Club in Dowling and Lion’s Club in Azilda.
The public was encouraged to visit the members and horses of the Musical Ride before and after the performances. The members were pleased to answer any questions and introduce their horses.
The Pre-Show featured the Greater Sudbury Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and Ministry of Natural Resources Dog master presentation, performances by the Blue Saints (Brass and Drum Band) and Sudbury Pipe and Drum Band, a dog show displaying their skills at completing an obstacle course, a medal presentation and the National Anthem sung by the Volunteer Fireman Choir.
