The Greater Sudbury Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in solving an incident involving a stolen vehicle in a single motor vehicle collision.
On Monday, July 5th, 2010 at 3:45 a.m. there was a single motor vehicle collision on Lasalle Boulevard between Dollard Avenue and Diane Street. The vehicle left the roadway going through the parking lot causing damage to the railing and stairway in the strip mall located on the northside of Lasalle Boulevard.
The engine of the vehicle was left running while the driver fled the scene. The vehicle was later confirmed as stolen. The owner was unaware at the time of the accident that it had been stolen. Police believed it to be stolen when they responded to the call because examination of the vehicle showed that the ignition was tampered with.
The first responding officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect. Some property was missing from the vehicle when the owner later examined it. The vehicle had been taken from the visitor parking of an apartment complex at 735 Lasalle Boulevard.
