On Tuesday, January 8th, 2008, Deputy Mayor Ron Dupuis Proclaimed January 2008 as Crime Stoppers Month on behalf of Mayor John Rodriguez.
The Proclamation was an opportunity to increase awarness about Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers and the impact it has had on our community since our inception in 1987.
Mr. Marc Bidal, President of Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers highlighted the accomplishments of Crime Stoppers by announcing that the local organization had recovered over $41 million in stolen property and drugs; $1.5 million in this past year alone. Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers over the years has approved over $402,000 in rewards.
Chief Davidson added that "tips from anonymous individuals have assisted this police service and other Northern Ontario Law Enforcement Agencies in a number of significant drug seizures, the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of those responsible for committing many of these crimes." He congratulated the Board of Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers, Coordinators and support staff for a job well done.
