On Tuesday, January 6th, 2009, the City of Greater Sudbury Proclaimed January 2009 as Crime Stoppers Month.

The Proclamation was an opportunity to increase awarness about Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers and the impact it has had on our community since our inception in 1987.

Mr. Marc Bidal, President of Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers highlighted the accomplishments of Crime Stoppers by announcing that the local organization had recovered over $42.3 million in stolen property and drugs; almost $600,000 in this past year alone.  Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers over the years has approved over $433,000 in rewards.

A number of dignitaries were present for the Proclamation. In attendance were Deputy Mayor Ron Dupuis, Minister of Corrections and Community Safety Rick Bartolucci, MPP for Nickel Belt France GĂ©linas, Greater Sudbury Police Services Deputy Chief Frank Elsner, Ontario Provincial Police Inspector Jack Gibbs, Greater Sudbury Police Services Inspector Dan Markiewich, Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Dave Scarlett and a number of Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers Directors.
