October 16th, 2007

The Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation and Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers have started a new partnership in the hopes of developing another tool in the fight against crime on Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation properties.

The Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation and Crime Stoppers Coordinator Constable Linda Burns opened discussions early in the Spring to set up a strategy to make it easier for tenents to report crime on Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation property through Crime Stoppers.  The Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation purchased and installed signs with Crime Stoppers information at all it's high density housing complexes within the City of Greater Sudbury.  The program will be expanded to include Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation's smaller apartment buildings in the outlying areas in the near future. By the end of the year, some 1700 households within 23 housing projects will have the Crime Stoppers' phone number at their fingertips to safely and anonymously report illegal activities in their social housing communities.
